Ride 1 conquered! Things at home still bad

Well, I did it. I rode from Rosarito to Ensenada in 3 hours and 20 minutes and I loved every second of it! It was a fantastic journey and I hope to continue riding. I love cycling!

La Mision, the killer hill almost killed me. It was a tough mother but I conquered her without stopping. I felt like a real rider when I went by the water stations and the water boys/girls were holding out cups to quench my thirst. It was seriously an awesome ride and it changed my life. The above picture is just before I crossed the finish line. My friend Refugio was 10 mins behind me. We loved it. He had just broken in his bike (with this ride!) and can't wait for the next ride.

At home, things remain the same. The government economy is still shite, and I saw a movie that blew my mind: Zeitgeist. I recommend all of you watch this film at least once. Just made me feel so helpless and stupid at the same time.

The DOW fell 777 points today. Why do we have to bail out the wall street fat cats? Why not just let them declare bankruptcy as punishment for the foolish decisions? I ask again, why are we not outraged at what's been going on? Ask yourselves these questions....

Almost time

So I do my bicycle ride this Saturday: 50 miles, Rosarito to Ensenada. I've been training the last couple months, but I feel as though I'm not prepared for this ride. I'm SUPER nervous. At mile 22 to 27, we go from 10 ft above sea level to 800ft!!! I'm sooo throwing up at mile 24 haha




In other news, Bush and his administration have very quietly increased the National debt by $800 million dollars...this year alone! That doesn't include the proposed $700 million bailout that is currently on the table. If approved, Bush and his administration and Congress will have increased the national debt by $1.5 trillion in 2008 alone, and the year is not over!!! The national debt in 1979 in today's dollars was $1.5 trillion. Lets think about this; it took the United States of America 200+ years to incur a debt of $1.5 trillion. 200! We are on the verge of DOUBLING that debt in ONE year...ONE!!!!! Why are we not rioting on the streets? Do y'all realize that now our kids and their kids have a debt to pay to the government before their birth?

I'm not one to be a political fanatic or even rant about stuff like this, but come on! $1.5 trillion in ONE year?!?! WTF?!?!

Back!

Finally decided to come out of hibernation; i'm back people. Not a whole lot new going on. Summer came and went with nothing new. I did however take up cycling and I spent waaay to much on a bike but by GOD i love it! I purchased a Trek 1.2T and have been biking around 45 miles a week...I do have to step this up however.

Other than that, life has been pretty ordinary. I know, I'm lame.

Random Story of the Day: So Karen (that's my boss) walks in and says: "Are you on Facebook?"
As the sweat starts forming on my forehead, I start thinking of what to say and eventually blurt out "um....not right now"

Karen: "Could you get on it and show me how to set up a profile?
Me: "um..what????"

Yep, I'm getting paid to be on facebook.....gift.
